2. I was at 8/5/11 and I ABSOLUTELY think of it as the Gorge Rock 'n Roll. One of my favorite jams ever. I was holding onto every available shard of my sanity during that one.
3. Regarding the instantaneous outpouring of love and affection for this particular jam...I have two trains of thought:
a. with the strengthening of audio streams and the solidification of instant messaging, twitter, etc., the echo chamber gets a lot
louder a lot more quickly than it ever did. Back in the (oh geez) old days, talking with people who'd been on tour was the only
real way to get a taste of what was going on, and that remained the case up until the aforementioned. Now anyone can listen
to every note of every tour for free and the amount of feedback has grown correspondingly. Some dude tweets "BEST
TWEEZER EVER HOLY SHIIITTTTTT!" and the ball starts rolling. The takes get hotter, the views grow more disparate, so on and
so forth. That is the downstream consequence of the internet.
b. anyone who has witnessed one of THOSE jams knows it more or less immediately. Only three of us from the Gorge crew
made it to those Tahoe shows and you'd better bet your ass we were rubbing it in their faces as soon as we left the venue.
This jam deserves all the praise it gets. It's not even my favorite tweezer, but it remains one of my favorite phish moments ever
for the unexpectedness of it and the sheer liquidity of the jams.
4. The first set of 7/30/13 has to be one of the most criminally underrated sets of all time. Seriously. Go try it now.
